$1,000,000 DONATION FOR FIRST TIME HOMEBUYER ASSISTANCE
AND HOMELESS SERVICES
Houston –County Judge Robert Eckels will accept a $1,000,000 check for the Harris County Community and Economic Development Department at Commissioners Court on Tuesday, November 9th at 10 am. Billy Burge, chairman of the Harris County Housing Finance Corporation, will present funds to be used for financial assistance for first time homebuyers and for services to the homeless.
“We want to thank the Housing Finance Corporation for this generous contribution to help our community members obtain housing. The Harris County Community and Economic Development Department’s mission is to build the County’s economy and improve the quality of life for Harris County residents”, says Judge Eckels. “First time home ownership and new home construction strengthen the tax base, develop the community and can revitalize existing neighborhoods. We are also committed to providing financial assistance for emergency housing and supportive services for Harris County’s homeless women and children.”
Seven hundred thousand dollars of the funds will be used for the Downpayment Assistance Program (DAP) for first time homebuyers and $300,000 will be used to meet the County’s Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) match program.
