Message UPCOMING TRAFFIC CHANGES IN WEST HOUSTON

"Ramps to Fry Road Overpass Scheduled to Close October 6th"

(Houston, TX)- Drivers on I-10/Katy Freeway in the west Houston area will certainly notice additional traffic pattern changes over the course of the upcoming weeks. Tonight, Tuesday, September 28 Williams Brothers Construction will be shifting the I-10 westbound mainlane traffic onto the new pavement over the Park Ten Bridge. In order to perform this traffic switch alternate lanes of I-10 westbound between SH 6 and Barker Cypress will be closed beginning 7 PM September 28 until 5 AM September 29. On Wednesday, September 30, the contractor will be shifting I-10 eastbound traffic onto to new pavement over the recently constructed Westgreen Bridge and opening the new I-10 eastbound entrance and exit ramps. Accordingly, alternate lanes of I-10 eastbound between Mason and Fry will be closed beginning 7 PM September 30 until 5 AM October 1.

In addition to the above traffic changes, Williams Brothers Construction is scheduled to close the I-10 westbound frontage road ramps that lead to and from the I-10 overpass at Fry Road effective 9 AM October 6, 2004. The closure of the ramps is necessary to allow the contractor to begin construction of the new westbound mainlanes in the area. A diagram of the designated detours can be viewed on the Katy Freeway Program website at http://www.katyfreeway.org/Fry_Detour/Fry_Road_Detour.html. This closure will be in effect for approximately 3 months in preparation for the total closure of the Fry Road overpass for reconstruction of the intersection. Total closure of the Fry Road overpass is targeted to take place in January 2005.
