Accidents at I-10 East- and Westbound near US 59
Congestion is expected to last through the rush hour

Houston TranStar officials are notifying the public that two accidents on I-10 East in both directions are affecting rush period traffic.

The eastbound accident involves a heavy truck on fire in the exit ramp to US 59 North; the ramp is blocked. Traffic is backed up to I-610 the West Loop.

The westbound accident involves two vehicles, one of which carried heavy equipment that struck the Waco St. bridge overpass, causing damage to the bridge and closing three main lanes. Traffic is backed up past the I-610 East Loop to Mercury Drive. I-10 Eastbound AND Westbound: Big truck accidents in both directions on I-10 near US 59. If possible, consider another east-west route.

More information, including a map of the incidents, can be found on the Houston TranStar Real-Time Traffic Map at http://traffic.houstontranstar.org/layers/.

Both incidents and the resulting traffic congestion are expected to last through the rush period, so travelers are strongly urged to take another east/west route or choose another departure time.
