MULTIPLE CLOSURES ALONG I-10/KATY FREEWAY THIS WEEKEND
"Motorists Are Encouraged to Review the Katy Freeway Closures Notices to Best Plan Travel Along I-10”
(Houston) – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) contractors for the I-10/Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program will continue construction activities this weekend with major closures in several areas along the I-10 corridor. Beginning 9 PM, Friday, June 20 until 6 PM, Sunday, June 22, I-10 westbound in the area from Washington Avenue to I-610/West Loop and multiple direct connector ramps will be closed for the striping of permanent pavement and the shifting of traffic to its final configuration in this area. I-10/Katy Freeway westbound traffic will be detoured to exit at Washington Avenue, to make a right and continue to Old Katy Road to access the I-10 westbound frontage road and enter the I-10/Katy Freeway at Antoine. Simultaneously, the I-10/Katy Freeway westbound direct connector ramps to I-610/West Loop north- and southbound will be closed. I-10 westbound traffic destined to I-610 northbound will detour to Old Katy Road and turn right to the I-610 northbound frontage road and enter the I-610 mainlanes before 18th Street. I-10 westbound traffic destined to I-610 southbound will detour to Old Katy Road, make a left on North Post Oak to access the I-610 southbound frontage road and enter the I-610 mainlanes after Woodway.
Additionally, on Saturday, June 21 from 6 AM to 6 PM, the I-610/West Loop north- and southbound direct connector ramps to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound will be closed. I-610/West Loop northbound traffic destined to I-10 eastbound will continue north on I-610/North Loop, to I-45/North Freeway southbound, to access I-10/East. I-610/West Loop southbound traffic destined to I-10 eastbound will detour to exit at Old Katy Road, turn left on Old Katy Road and proceed to Washington to access I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound. As part of the I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange Reconstruction, the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound mainlanes between Wilcrest and Gessner will be closed Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 from 5 AM to 8 PM for the hanging of beams for the new I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound to Beltway 8 northbound direct connector ramp. Traffic will detour to the frontage road and re-enter the I-10 eastbound mainlanes after Beltway 8.
