MAJOR CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES IN THE VICINITY OF THE I-10/BELTWAY 8 INTERCHANGE

“The Next Two I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange Direct Connector Ramps to Close Effective January 4, 2008”

(Houston) Effective 10 PM, Friday, January 4, the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound direct connector ramps to Beltway 8-West northbound will be closed for reconstruction. The I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound connector ramp to BELTWAY 8 northbound will be closed until April 2008. I-10 eastbound traffic destined to Beltway 8 northbound will detour the I-10 eastbound mainlanes via the Beltway 8 frontage road exit, make a left to the Beltway 8 northbound frontage road and enter the Beltway 8 mainlanes just north of Westview.

The I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound direct connector ramp to Beltway 8 northbound will be closed until August 2008. I-10 westbound traffic destined to Beltway 8 northbound will need to exit the I-10 westbound mainlanes via the Beltway 8 frontage road exit, make a right on the Beltway 8 northbound frontage road and enter the Beltway 8 mainlanes just north of Westview. A map illustrating the detours can be viewed on the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program website using the link http://www.katyfreeway.org/Beltway8/I-10_Beltway8NB.html.

In addition to the long-term direct connector closures, motorists should be aware that there are numerous temporary closures scheduled for this weekend to perform demolition activities. (See attached list) A detailed list of this weekend’s closures can be viewed on the Katy Freeway Reconstruction program website using the link http://www.katyfreeway.org/Beltway8/Weekly_Forecast.html.

Motorists can expect continued multiple total and alternate lane closures and should be prepared for traffic delays when traveling in the vicinity of the I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange as reconstruction resumes from the holiday break.

Please note that all closures are subject to change due to inclement weather. For more information on the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program, including up-to-date information regarding other lane closures along the I-10 corridor, please visit the Katy Freeway website at www.katyfreeway.org or contact the Katy Freeway Public Information Office at 281-589-5924.
