Upcoming Katy Freeway Program Closures

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…
Below is an updated list of the scheduled closures associated with the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program as of Friday, August 17, 2007.
CONTRACT D (I-10/BELTWAY 8 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES
. There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound mainlanes at the Beltway 8 tonight, Friday, August 17 at 9:30 PM until noon, Saturday, August 18. Traffic will detour at the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road and re-enter the I-10 westbound mainlanes just east of Wilcrest.
. There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound direct connector ramps to northbound and southbound BELTWAY 8-WEST tonight, Friday, August 17 at 9:30 PM until noon, Saturday, August 18. Northbound traffic will exit at the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road to the Beltway 8 northbound frontage road; Southbound traffic will exit at the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road, U-turn at Wilcrest to the I-10 eastbound frontage road to the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road.
. There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of the BELTWAY 8-WEST southbound frontage road between WESTVIEW and I-10/KATY FREEWAY and the Beltway 8-West southbound frontage road flyover bridge tonight, Friday, August 17 at 9:30 PM until noon, Saturday, August 18. Traffic will detour west on Westview to Brittmoore, south on Brittmoore to the I-10 westbound frontage road.
. There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of the BELTWAY 8-WEST northbound frontage road at I-10/KATY FREEWAY tonight, Friday, August 17 at 9:30 PM until noon, Saturday, August 18. Northbound traffic will detour to the Beltway 8-West northbound frontage road flyover bridge.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has modified the work schedule of all
I-10 construction activities in preparation for Hurricane Dean. All lane closures throughout the Texas coastal region will be suspended by noon on Saturday in preparation for possible evacuations.
